In his book THE ART OF RACING IN THE RAIN, Garth Stein writes; "If a driver has the courage to create his own conditions, then the rain is just the rain.". Think about that while I muse on...
Those of you who know me know that I refer to the idea of G-d as The Great Architect. Let's say that in an all-knowing nod, The Great Architect gave us the seasons as another way to push through change. To readjust. To revisit. To revise. To rethink and reassess. To allow for change with grace and diplomacy. To accept that what seems wrong can also be a thoroughfare, another way of getting closer to what's right. To see that when something is difficult, it will pass, and then you will be different. It's a brilliant set-up, really. The perfection of impermanence. All the radical changes that require us to learn and to re-learn. That's where our freedom is, on the inside, patiently waiting for us to stretch the grey matter and shift the gears.
So, yes...it may seem easier to rail against what's wrong by pointing the finger of fear everywhere but 'here'. It's time to let that shit go. Time to look in.
The meanest season can be the radical change we need, if we let it. And then the rain is just the rain. And then you create your own conditions.
